About Us – History of PÖTTINGER Waste Management Technology

PÖTTINGER Entsorgungstechnik GmbH is part of the long-established family-owned company PÖTTINGER and is currently led by Dipl.-Ing. Maximilian Pöttinger, the fifth generation of the family to head the company. The Waste Management division was founded in 1986 by Dipl.-Ing. Klaus Pöttinger in Grieskirchen and grew so successfully over the years that it was spun off into an independent company in 2005. In 2023, Klaus Pöttinger handed over management to his son Maximilian, who continues to uphold the company’s values with a clear focus on innovation and sustainability.

1871

In 1871, Franz Pöttinger laid the foundation in Grieskirchen for PÖTTINGER’s 150-year history. What began with the manufacture of a forage cutter had its origins in a metalworking shop run by the multi-talented founder. Franz Pöttinger was known not only as an entrepreneur and inventor, but also as a clockmaker: among other things, he crafted the Grieskirchen church tower clock, which served reliably for over 100 years.

1986

Establishment of the Waste Management Technology Division. At the time of its founding, the Pöttinger Multibrik was the main product and was primarily used as a document shredder in banks and insurance companies.

1998

The first-ever presentation of the patented Ident Multipress ECO weighing system at IFAT in Munich.

2003

Pöttinger Entsorgungstechnik GmbH & Co. KG is founded as an independent company. The principal shareholders are Klaus Pöttinger and Komm.Rat Heinz Pöttinger Sr.

2005

Pöttinger Stroje was founded as a wholly owned subsidiary of Pöttinger Entsorgungstechnik, with approximately 80 employees in Banovce (Slovakia), to manufacture steel structures

2008

Presentation of the new generation of compactor containers at IFAT in Munich. A quantum leap in compactor container technology, featuring both technical and aesthetic highlights.
