Modern collection sites in Brixen, South Tyrol
The initial situation
Brixen Municipal Utilities has been working for many years to develop a modern and sustainable approach to municipal waste management.
The aim is to provide residents with easily accessible collection systems whilst continuously improving the collection of recyclables and the recycling rate.
The challenge
Municipal collection systems must meet numerous requirements: They must be available round the clock, easy to use, and at the same time clean and space-saving.
Furthermore, clear user identification and transparent recording of the quantities of waste deposited are becoming increasingly important.
The solution
In Brixen, various solutions from the ECO product range by PĂ–TTINGER are in use.
The MULTIPRESS ECO compacts waste directly at the collection point whilst simultaneously recording it using identification and weighing technology. In addition, ECO Underground systems are used, which relocate a large proportion of the collection volume underground and can thus be integrated into the townscape in a space-saving manner.
One ECO Underground unit replaces up to 70 conventional household waste bins and is ideally suited to the separate collection of glass, tins, paper, plastic and green waste. Thanks to the underground design, the collection points remain clean, tidy and visually appealing.
These modern collection systems support transparent and polluter-pays waste disposal. At the same time, the consistent further development of the collection system has led to a significant increase in the recycling rate.
