The initial situation

The QUADRILL combines a wide variety of uses within a single complex. Approximately 18,000 m² of office space, 8,400 m² of residential space, and about 3,000 m² of retail space—including roughly 1,000 m² of dining areas—result in a high and diverse volume of waste. Added to this are a total of 175 residential units, as well as hotel and commercial uses.

For day-to-day operations, a solution was therefore needed that could reliably handle large volumes of waste, while requiring minimal space and enabling clear allocation of disposal costs.

The challenge

Conventional collection systems quickly reach their limits in mixed-use urban neighborhoods. Different user groups, fluctuating waste volumes, and limited space require a system that operates flexibly, compactly, and transparently.

At the same time, overflowing containers, loose waste, and unnecessary collection trips needed to be avoided. Another key consideration was the ability to transparently track waste volumes and allocate them to the respective user groups based on the “polluter pays” principle.

The solution

The QUADRILL uses the MULTIPRESS ECO from PÖTTINGER. The system collects and compacts the waste deposited directly on site, thereby enabling a high storage capacity with a comparatively small footprint.

Thanks to the integrated weighing and identification technology, the quantities deposited are precisely recorded and assigned to the respective user groups. This allows for transparent waste disposal billing based on the polluter-pays principle—from residents to hotels and restaurants, and on to offices, retail, and commercial businesses.

The enclosed system also helps maintain a clean and orderly collection point and reduces the effort required for cleaning and maintenance.
